Step Into The Story

Story Book

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. (Hebrews 11:8, NIV)

God has called men and women throughout history to set aside their own goals and aspirations and take up his cause, making his plans their plans, his mission their mission, his concerns their concerns, his heart their heart.

Abraham was such a person. Abraham’s call came in Genesis 12 when the Lord said to him, “Go from your country, your people, and your father’s household to the land I will show you” (Genesis 12:1, NIV). Abraham didn’t know exactly where the Lord was going to lead him. All he knew was that he had to follow God’s call on his life.

God is stilling calling men and women to follow His lead, to leave their old life and follow Him. And, we often don’t know any more than Abraham did about where exactly the Lord is going to lead us. We would like to know the whole plan laid out for us, from start to finish, before we begin. We would like to read all of the chapters of the story before we commit. But that is not the way it works. The story is revealed in the living of the story. We need to follow the Lord, and trust him as the author. That is living by faith.

Step into the story. You won’t be disappointed.
