Reflections From the Life of Joshua
We first meet Joshua as Moses’ assistant, leading the Israelite’s into battle against the Amalekites, accompanying Moses up the mountain to meet with the Lord, and remaining behind at the Tent of Meeting even when Moses would return to the camp.
Joshua was one of the twelve chosen to explore the Promised Land on behalf of the Israelites. And he was one of only two who gave a good report about the land, encouraging the people to go in and take it, confident the Lord would be with them.
Joshua was given the task of leading the next generation of the people into the Promised Land after Moses’ death. He witnessed the Lord’s great victories on their behalf, bringing down the intimidating walls of Jericho and overcoming enemies much larger and better equipped than themselves. He also experienced defeat brought about by sin and impatience.
The challenge he gave the Israelites at the end of his life continues to resonate in the hearts of God’s people even in our day. “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
Join us for a weekend of worship, teaching, fellowship, and recreation as we reflect on the Lord’s good hand in the life of Joshua. We will be encouraged and built up in our own faith to follow the Lord.
